Melissa Ann McNaughton, Macs Glasgow Hair & Beauty

Melissa Ann McNaughton (Currie) set up her own hair and beauty business 4 years ago at the age of 22 when she was still in hospital. At age of 18 she caught the viral form of meningitus. Since then her immune system has been damaged and at sometimes has been dangeroulsy ill.

With her sickness record in tatters no employer wanted to take her on. So one day sitting up in her hospital bed she signed up for the next business course with The Princes Trust.

On completing the course they noticed her spark and invited her to be an inspirational speaker as a Young Ambassador. Melissa is still involved with them and is due to be part of a team getting young people into employment.

With the salon now in its 4th year, Melissa and her business are no strangers to being nominated for awards. Always just pipped at the post and in her first week as a married lady (May 2015) she won her first business award. The business is set in Glasgow’s Vibrant West End and is already knows for its great quality, service and value for money. In addition to this the salon is friendly and inviting and the customers feel right at home and at ease when there.

Also known in the beauty pageant circuit, Melissa last night won the Miss Inspiration Scotland title for the 2nd year running down in Wales. This title was just made for her!!

In addition to the above she still makes time for her charities, organising events etc. This earned her a place as one of the Queens Baton Bearers at the commonwealth games.
