We deliver a range of training services direct to women-owned businesses to support the creation of new businesses, in addition to developing leadership skills to drive business growth. With men 4.5 times more likely to get to the Boardroom than women and only 16% of board roles being held by women globally, WES is working with Edinburgh Napier University Business School to provide boardroom governance training for women seeking to join a board or women who are seeking to build a board for their own business.

Business Advisor Training

The Business Advisor Gender Balance course (BAGB) is designed to help business advisors assess the gender-specific nature of the support they provide. Advisors are equipped to review the gender balance of existing support frameworks to identify gaps and set action plans to more closely tailor existing support to the end client. The BAGB training programme offers insight into gender-appropriate techniques and best practice to help advisors develop effective plans.

The Lead With WES programme is designed for women business owners wishing to lead their business through growth to become a sustainable, high performing organisation.
In Fife, we are working with Fife Economic Partnership to deliver this leadership development programme. Administered and supported by Business Gateway Services, the programme is run from at the new Enterprise Hub in Glenrothes.In Edinburgh the Lead with WES programme is running with Business Gateway and in Greenock, we have launched a programme with Riverside Inverclyde.

Business Creation Course
In partnership with the Armed Forces Covenant Fund, we have run courses to inspire and equip servicemen and women's partners to create and start up their own business.
Our Stat up with WES programme saw over 70% of participants starting up a business during the ten-week programme. Our follow-up programme supported more women to start up, in addition to enabling the first cohort to grow their businesses. The Minister for Veterans, Keith Brown MSP visited the course and congratulated the participants on their business achievements. The course participants were also invited to the Scottish Parliament to meet with MSPs and speak about their business experiences and how starting up in business had helped their skills development and retention.

The first Global Certification Standards for Gender Balanced Digital Platforms offer a route map towards achieving gender balance in organisational perception, policy and performance.
