Training

At Women’s Enterprise Scotland, we have a wealth of knowledge and experience in delivering consultancy and training, much of which is developed on a bespoke basis with individual organisations and companies.

We deliver a range of training services direct to women-owned businesses to support the creation of new businesses, in addition to developing leadership skills to drive business growth. We support broader leadership development through training in areas such as boardroom governance and operation, giving evidence to parliamentary committees and speaking in the media.

As well as providing contextual women’s enterprise content, our multi-disciplinary team can deliver specific activities that enable business support organisations and advisor teams to embed best practice into every day client interactions .

If you’d like a confidential conversation with us about what we may be able to offer you or your organisation, please get in touch via our contact page.

Boardroom Governance

With men 4.5 times more likely to get to the Boardroom than women and only 16% of board roles being held by women globally, WES is working with Edinburgh Napier University Business School to provide boardroom governance training for women seeking to join a board or women who are seeking to build a board for their own business.

Please contact us to find out more about future workshops.

Business Advisor Training

We are also providing blended training programmes for business advisors to help them better understand the needs of Scottish women starting or growing their own businesses.  If you are part of this programme, log in here.

The Business Advisor Gender Balance course (BAGB) is designed to help business advisors assess the gender-specific nature of the support they provide. Advisors are equipped to review the gender balance of existing support frameworks to identify gaps and set action plans to more closely tailor existing support to the end client. The BAGB training programme offers insight into gender-appropriate techniques and best practice to help advisors develop effective plans.

Business Creation Course

In partnership with the Armed Forces Covenant Fund, we have run courses to inspire and equip servicemen and women's partners to create and start up their own business.

Our Stat up with WES programme saw over 70% of participants starting up a business during the ten-week programme. Our follow-up programme supported more women to start up, in addition to enabling the first cohort to grow their businesses. The Minister for Veterans, Keith Brown MSP visited the course and congratulated the participants on their business achievements. The course participants were also invited to the Scottish Parliament to meet with MSPs and speak about their business experiences and how starting up in business had helped their skills development and retention.

Please contact us to find out how we can run a similar course for you.
