WOMEN’S ENTERPRISE SCOTLAND AWARDS OPEN FOR ENTRIES

Women’s Enterprise Scotland has joined forces with Scotland’s leading business publication, Scottish Business Insider, to launch its prestigious new business awards.

The Women’s Enterprise Scotland Awards, which open for entries today (Thursday 18 April) will mark the achievements of the growing number of women-led businesses, with categories including Innovator of the Year, Board Member 2019, Business Leader 2019 and Business of the Year.

Carolyn Currie, Chief Executive at Women’s Enterprise Scotland said; “Evidence consistently shows that accessible role models are a powerful tool for inspiring and encouraging women to start and grow businesses. We are delighted to be working with Scotland’s longest established and most authoritative business to business publication to create a platform for highlighting the achievements of Scotland’s thriving women-led businesses, which collectively now contribute an estimated £8.8bn GVA to the Scottish economy, an increase of 76% from £5bn GVA in 2012. With dedicated resources and support, women-owned businesses have the opportunity to continue growing their economic impact and value across all areas of Scotland and in all sectors.”

Ken Symon, Editor of Scottish Business Insider said; “Encouraging female business leaders to start and grow businesses is a key strand of what we are about on Insider. As all the research shows, there is a huge potential for creating wealth and growing the Scottish economy if we can significantly increase the number of women in the boardroom and starting their own enterprises.”

The deadline for entries is 28 June, with the glittering awards ceremony taking place at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on Wednesday 18 September. Former BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio Scotland presenter Clare English will host the evening.
